Autumn 2019

Autumn 2019 in Goldfinches and Robins

In Goldfinches, we have begun our learning on our topic 'Memory Boxes'. The class enjoyed a sensory session in science based on how our bodies explore different senses. First the children helped prepare some of the resources, mixing corn flour and chocolate powder to make sticky mud. Everyone enjoyed watching the change and the smells that were produced by mixing the ingredients with a little water. We used the story 'We're going on a bear hunt' to create sensory stations that featured the sticks, mud and grass from the journey in the book. Everyone enjoyed the sensory journey and joined in with the story at each station.

In Robins, we have begun our learning on our topic 'Memory boxes'. In science, we have been learning about our bodies and our senses. We had lots of fun exploring our senses using the story 'We're going on a Bear Hunt.' We listened to the wind in a swirling whirling snowstorm along with tasting the ice cold snow. We enjoyed walking through the long wavy grass and feeling the thick oozy mud on our toes. We have also been learning about our bodies using mat-man. We made our own mat man using play dough and drew round each other to label our body parts.
