Jays and Blackbirds Autumn 1 2020
At the beginning of this term we focused on ensuring our children were settled and back into the routine of full time learning. The children settled really well. We’ve explored more challenging books and looked at them in greater depth. Our book “The secret sky garden” allowed us to explore character motivation, story structure and inference as well as recording in written, oral and video forms. In mathematics we’ve covered addition, subtraction, place value and also had a greater focus on time and sequencing events. Our topic theme of Urban Pioneers has lent itself to us exploring graffiti and the work of famous artist’s like Banksy in art. In history we’ve contrasted and compared different buildings to learn about how our locality has changed and developed over time and in science we’ve looked at light, shadows and light sources in the environment.
