Woodpeckers Autumn 1 2020
This half term as part of our Space, Shape and Measure focus in maths, the children in Woodpeckers class have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. The children experienced a variety of activities such as sorting shapes by features and identifying 2D and 3D shape properties. The children particularly enjoyed making a range of 2D and 3D shapes using cocktail sticks and mini-marshmallows; which they enjoyed as a tasty treat once they had finished building their models.
The children have also enjoyed practicing their measuring skills and applying this to a range of different learning tasks in maths. They really enjoyed measuring a range of classroom objects using non-standard and standard measures e.g unifix cubes and cm rulers and practiced using vocabulary to describe the different heights and lengths of a range of objects.
