The majority of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities can be provided for from the resources normally available in their educational setting and community. The Local Offer will ensure that families and practitioners can find out what is available and help everyone to make the most of services offered in schools and in the community.

'Short breaks' are activities specifically tailored for children and young people with SEND and offered by a variety of different providers across the county.  Parents and carers can leave their child for a short period of time in the care of the providers knowing that their needs are understood and met.   

The Short Break offer has been co-produced with families and young people to offer a choice of opportunities for children and young people with a range of SEND needs. Families will be able to access up to 40 hours per year.  (To access more SBLO hours, a social care assessment will need to be undertaken by the 0-25 service).
