Junior Leadership Team
School Council Members
Southfield School believes that Pupil Voice is integral to the School Development and decision making. Our pupils are invited to stand for a Junior Leadership post. Pupils must complete an application and then put up posters around the school advertising why they should be voted for by other pupils. Successful candidates go on to work alongside staff throughout the year. They are involved in action planning, meeting governors and visitors, school development and sharing information with the rest of the school through assemblies and presentations.
There are 4 members of the Junior leadership team, 2 leaders and 2 deputy's and each class has a school council representative.
Autumn Term 2023
Our Junior Leadership and School Councillors have been very busy this Autumn term. We have been developing ideas for our playground and thinking of ways to help charities such as Children in Need and our local food bank. We have been trying to think of different ways to promote Pupil Voice at Southfield as every child’s voice matters. We have been following through on suggestions from pupil voice, for example, during one meeting it was raised that we should have Teacher of the Week at Southfield which has been put in place. Our next project is to try and have a clean environment with no litter. We noticed that this is an issue near our school, and we would like to develop ideas to ensure we keep our school and local community clean.
Spring Term 2024
Following on from Autumn term, Junior Leadership Team and School Council undertook litter picking at the front of the school and filled up two black bags of rubbish.
This term, we have been focusing on ways we could make improvements at Southfield. It was noted by Pupil Voice that the Sensory Room needed some upgrades. During a meeting we wrote a letter to Angela asking for toy fish in the bubble tube, beanbags, and blankets so we could be comfortable in the Sensory Room. We were presented with toy fishes, beanbags and blankets by Angela and we were very excited to make the amendments to the Sensory Room to ensure all the children at Southfield enjoy their time in the room.
We have also reported to Angela that the laptops at Southfield are having some issues when we are doing our ICT lessons. We received a letter from Angela to let us know that there are 15 new laptops on the way following our pupil voice. We can’t wait to receive them.
