Junior Leadership team (JLT) & school council
Southfield School believes that Pupil Voice is integral to the School Development and decision making. Our pupils are invited to stand for a Junior Leadership post. Pupils must complete an application and then put up posters around the school advertising why they should be voted for by other pupils. We encourage democracy at Southfield and every child and adult is given the opportunity to vote for who they want as part of the Junior leadership team. Successful candidates go on to work alongside staff throughout the year. They are involved in action planning, meeting governors and visitors, school development and sharing information with the rest of the school through assemblies and presentations.
There are 4 members of the Junior leadership team, 2 leaders and 2 deputy's and each class has a school council representative.

Autumn 2024
We are very busy with school council elections. Every class will have a school council representative that will join for meetings and develop ideas for improving the school. We also have our Behaviour Leaders who are a representative from each class and they are excellent role models of following Southfield's behaviour charter. We are excited to start our new academic year with our new leaders who will support on improving and enhancing Southfield School.
This term we have been thinking about how we can look after our school. We have decided that in order to look after our school, we need to pick up any litter that we see. We continue to think about how to develop our pupil voice by contributing to the DFE Consultation in regards to curriculum. We have been discussing pupil voices that the children at our school have and how we can implement them.
