Celebrating Memories, Achievements and New Beginnings
There were smiles, laughter and more than a few tears as Southfield School’s Year 6 pupils came together with their classmates, parents and carers for a truly memorable end-of-term assembly. The special occasion marked the end of an important chapter in the lives of our pupils as they prepared to leave Southfield and begin exciting new adventures at secondary school.
The assembly was a celebration of everything the Year 6 pupils have achieved during their time at Southfield. Surrounded by friends, families and staff who have supported them throughout their journey, the leavers were given the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, friendships and accomplishments while looking ahead to the future with confidence and pride.
Sarah Lettis opened the assembly with a warm and heartfelt introduction that immediately captured the attention of everyone in the hall. Her sincere words reflected on the pupils’ growth and achievements over the years, reminding them of the positive impact they have had on the school community. The Year 6 pupils listened attentively as Sarah spoke about their resilience, kindness and determination, creating a touching and meaningful start to the celebration.
The assembly was then followed by a personalised presentation created by Angela, which beautifully showcased each of the leavers and celebrated them in all their glory. Filled with photographs, memories and special moments, the presentation provided a wonderful opportunity for families and classmates alike to look back on the pupils’ journeys through Southfield.
The presentation began with a powerful welcome slide that perfectly captured the emotions of the day:
“Today is not just about saying goodbye... it is about celebrating every step, every achievement, every smile and every moment that brought us here together. You arrived as young children with big dreams and today you leave as brave, brilliant people who will always hold a special place in our hearts.
As we look back on your journey, there may be tears.... not because this journey is ending, but because it mattered so very much.
No matter how far life takes you, this will always be your school, these will always be your memories, and you will always be part of our family.”
These heartfelt words resonated with everyone in attendance and perfectly summed up the significance of the occasion. As images of the pupils appeared on screen, proud parents and carers watched on with smiles that reflected years of hard work, determination and personal growth. For many, there were tears too, not only because their children were moving on, but because they were witnessing the end of a treasured chapter and the beginning of a new one.
Throughout the assembly, it was clear just how much the pupils have grown during their time at Southfield. From their earliest days at the school to the confident young people they have become today, each pupil’s journey was recognised and celebrated. Their achievements, friendships and unique personalities shone through, reminding everyone of the lasting memories they have created together.
While saying goodbye is never easy, the atmosphere was one of pride, gratitude and hope. Staff reflected on the privilege of being part of each pupil’s journey, while families celebrated the remarkable young people their children have become.
As the Year 6 pupils leave Southfield behind and take their next steps towards secondary education, they do so with the support and best wishes of the entire school community. They will always remain a cherished part of the Southfield family, and the memories they have created here will stay with them for years to come.
We wish all of our Year 6 leavers every success and happiness in the future. Be brave, be confident, and never stop believing in yourselves. We are incredibly proud of you all.
