Harvest at Southfield
Thu 17 Oct 2024This year to celebrate and learn about Harvest, Father Darren came in and spoke to the children about what Harvest is, and how we can help people. We asked families to donate any foods they can to support our local food bank, based at the bottom of our road.
The Junior Leadership team will deliver the donations to the food bank and learn about some of the work they do there and learn how they support local families.

GRAND OPENING OF NEW BUILDING AT SOUTHFIELD SCHOOL
Thu 10 Oct 2024Southfield School were delighted to welcome several VIP guests to witness the grand opening of our fabulous new building by Lady Salisbury, Annie Brewster (High Sheriff) and Father Darren Collins.
The new building contains two state of the art classrooms, both include separate wet rooms, kitchens and toilet facilities. An amazing sensory room, and outside play areas providing playground equipment allowing the children the opportunity to socialise, play and develop essential key skills regardless of their abilities.
Southfield School is a primary school with pupils who have learning difficulties which include autism, speech language and communication needs, global development delay and other conditions. The addition of this fantastic new building will enable us to increase the school capacity to accommodate 100 pupils.
Angela O’Rourke, Headteacher, said “I would like to extend a huge thank you to all those people who joined us on this incredible journey”.

World Mental health day and our sponsored event
Thu 10 Oct 2024On Thursday 10th October, in recognition of world mental health day, we worked with the children on how physical activity can boost mental health.
Following on from a generous delivery of scooters recently, we decided that we would use these to host a fundraising event to raise funds to build our own onsite forest school. Having a forest school onsite for the pupils would support pupils by improving confidence, behaviour, physical and social skills, emotional wellbeing, language and communication, concentration, knowledge and understanding of the world.
We did well so far in raising funds- Southfield School - on site Forest School - JustGiving
