• Golf with Brocket Hall

  Swing, swing, its golf time! We have some budding golfers in the mix here at Southfield! Today we had Stu and the Brocket Hall golf team along Jo Moxham from Stanborough School in to support Woodpeckers and Robins classes develop their golf skills.

  The pupils showed excellent listening, and were very patient waiting for their turns. We even had a couple bullseyes!

  Both classes will be visiting Brocket Hall in the next few weeks to practise their new skills.

  

• Cycling Lessons

  Cycling Lessons Update 

  Wow wow wow! Huge thank you to Herts Disability Sports Foundation who after only three sessions so far, have got our children safely on two wheels! Look at Robin's class! We are so impressed with their steering, being mindful of each other, and their braking.

  

• Gymnastics

  Friday means.... Gymnastics! We have the lovely Jo Moxham running gymnastics classes for our pupils. We jumped into Goldfinches class where they did some excellent listening, and used the equipment safely.

  We had so much fun celebrating World Book Day today at School, reading and drawing characters from our favourite books!

  

• Music For Autism

  Music For Autism was founded in response to the transformational impact music has on the Founders own autistic son.

  Now, the members of the MFA orchestra make visits to Schools spreading their wonderful music for the pupils to move freely. Visits by their musicians mean that young people with autism can have similar access to the experience of live classical music as those of their peers who can meet the behavioural expectations of formal concert attendance
  
  We are honoured to have John and his orchestra bringing the sound of live classical music to our children.

  

• PE with Joe

  Today we had the talented Joe Payne, One Welwyn Hatfield award winner, at our School today, teaching some really fun PE lessons to our pupils.

  We moved the lessons outside into the playground since Spring is in the air and the sun is shining. Its such a highlight for the children, and Joe is absolutely brilliant with our pupils, teaching them about safety, patience, and that they can do anything!!

  

• Louise Selby visit

  We were absolutely delighted to welcome Louise Selby back to Southfield today.

  Louise is a dyslexia specialist teacher, trainer and assessor working across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

  Louise aims to equip, enable and empower schools to support pupils in reaching their full potential. As we know, the right intervention, understanding and adjustments can make all the difference for pupils with specific learning difficulties and dyslexia.

  Learning is the one thing the mind never exhausts, never fears and never regrets.

  Louise, thank you for not just spending time with our children, but with our staff too - You are an absolute fountain of knowledge.
