Jays class went pond dipping
Thu 23 May 2024As part of their science lessons Jays class went pond dipping! They found all sorts of interesting water minibeasts, water scorpions, pond snails, backswimmers, water beetles, phantom midge larva, and even a newt. All the children were thoroughly engrossed listening carefully to Alison, the RSPB facilitator. She was very impressed with the children’s knowledge and observational skills. Not only did they take part in pond dipping they looked at the surrounding wild plants.

Stortford gym club
Fri 10 May 2024On Wednesday we visited Stortford Gymnastics centre. Children joined in a warm up activity using pom poms before exploring the equipment. We finished with some stretches using a ball. Stortford Gymnastics session offers SEN sessions on a Sunday morning.

Canal boat trips
Fri 10 May 2024Robins, Blackbirds, Magpies and Woodpecker classes were all lucky enough to be able to have a day out on a canal boat, travelling along the Grand Union Canal.
Children learned how to sail the boat, open and close locks and experience what it feels like to be on a canal boat.
The children had 2 lovely days, 1 with great weather, 1 with no such great weather.

Woodpeckers golf trip
Tue 30 Apr 2024Woodpeckers class have been off site and learning to play golf. This has hugely helped the children with their fine and gross motor skills and they have learned a new sport.

FOSS Easter movie night and Easter egg hunt
Wed 27 Mar 2024On Wednesday after school, FOSS held a movie night and Easter Egg hunt. 30 children joined us for fun, snacks, games and a movie. The children all left happy and with an Easter egg from the hunt.

Science Week
Fri 08 Mar 2024All the children participated in Science Week, the focus was on time. The pupils enjoyed when Professor Dan came in and he carried out a range of experiments with the children. Throughout the week, children participated in a variety of Science activities which included different experiments such as making sand timers, exploring shadows and investigating bubbles.

AGMS Foundation donation
Wed 28 Feb 2024Agam Gosai Manav Seva foundation is a charity whose ethos is "Actively Serving Humanity" at a local, national and international level. It is a non-profit and non-government organisation.
Southfield School were lucky enough to receive donations of Drawing materials that have been distributed throughout the school.
