Woodpeckers go donutting!
Fri 12 Dec 2025Woodpeckers had lots of fun donuttting at Gosling Sports Centre this Friday afternoon. We loved racing each other down the slopes, exploring fast and slow. We all had a go and loved going forwards, backwards, spinning and even making a class chain where we all went down together. We loved our first offsite visit as Woodpeckers.

The Nativity Story
Tue 09 Dec 2025We were delighted to welcome Father Darren and Reverend Indira into school to help us explore the Nativity story in a fun and interactive way. Using costumes and props, they brought the characters and events to life, giving our pupils the chance to step into the story themselves. It was a wonderful experience that deepened our understanding of this special part of Christmas and created lasting memories for everyone involved.

Blackbirds visit to the De Havilland Museum.
Tue 09 Dec 2025Today Blackbirds went to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum. The children loved spending the morning here. They got to see lots of different types of airplanes built by De Havilland and they went inside a Comet Airplane and inside a cockpit. All children received a gift with a voucher inside and they all said they would like to go back one day.

Panto came to Southfield
Wed 03 Dec 2025This year, our pupils were whisked away to Neverland with a spectacular performance of Peter Pan. From daring adventures with Peter and Wendy to mischievous encounters with Captain Hook and his crew, the show was packed with laughter, music, and plenty of pantomime fun! A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this enchanting story to life – it truly was a performance to remember.
We even manages to practise our Makaton signs related to Peter Pan.

Swans class visit to the RAF museum
Fri 28 Nov 2025Swan's class have been exploring the story 'Planes and Other Flying Machines' as part of their 'How things work' topic.
Over the past couple of weeks we have learned about different flying vehicles, the sounds they make and focused on using key vocabulary from the story to match and describe. To consolidate our fantastic learning, we visited the RAF Museum! We looked for planes in our story, played with interactive resources and even walked through a Sunderland plane to see exactly how things work inside!

Southfield Art Gallery 2025
Wed 26 Nov 2025Southfield School are extremely proud to share with you news from our inaugural art gallery which was held on Wednesday 26 November 2025.
The gallery was a vibrant celebration of creativity from all pupils across school with the artwork showing full of imagination and individuality.
The exhibition showcased an inspiring collection of work for our talented pupils.
Thank you to all families, Governors and to Nicholas Buxton , the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire who attended.

Jays and Blackbirds visit to a local church.
Tue 25 Nov 2025Jays and Blackbird's classes went to visit St Etheldreda's church. On arrival, the children were warmly welcomed by Reverend Indira, a familiar face who visits Southfield School regularly. The children then went for a tour around the church. They were set the challenge of looking for different symbols within the windows, furniture and the building that we had learnt about in our RE learning in school, this included looking for crosses, hands and doves. The children asked lots of great questions, they learnt about why there are the different colours used within the church and got to try on some of the items that Reverend Indira and Father Darren wear during church services.

Goldfinches visit Aldenham Country Park
Tue 25 Nov 2025On Tuesday 25th November goldfinches class thoroughly enjoyed a tour of Aldenham Country Park Farm. Children experienced feeding and stroking a range of animals and delighted in using the mini-tractors and sensory tunnel!

Grand Opening of the Southfield Mini Golf Course
Fri 21 Nov 2025Southfield school hosted their official opening of their mini golf course, constructed by Brocket Hall in the summer.
The course was officially opened by Lady Salisbury of Hatfield House.
Along with Lady Salisbury, the Mayoress of Hatfield and her consort joined the fun along with many other local important dignitaries.
Our pupils in Jays class also got to have a golf lesson taught by some Brocket Hall professionals.

Archery lessons at Southfield
Wed 19 Nov 2025Woodpeckers class were very lucky to have an Archery lesson today taught by Jo Moxham from the Stanborough School Partnership.
Pupils learnt how to hold the bows correctly, focus and aim the arrow and then release. Pupil enjoyed the competition with each other to see who could hit the target and there were some excellent shots!
